This Internet on-line tradition started in 1998 when the first Holiday Short Story titled Snowflake was published on the Thoughts from the Pond website. Snowflake was later awarded First Place in the annual Holiday Story Contest hosted by The St. Augustine (Florida) Record Newspaper. Snowflake is a heartwarming tale about a young girl’s attempts to get a small disabled puppy from a pet store to give as a very special holiday gift. Several other stories are award winners also. The Holiday Short Story series is dedicated "to all lost and homeless animals past and present." Four of the Holiday Short Stories involve animals: The Snowman Contest, Snowflake, War Takes a Holiday, and The Christmas Duck. Below is a list of the complete Holiday Short Story Collection. Some of the stories are available to read on this website and others are available in the printed book or download format.
